Munich – April 2025. At bauma 2025, Wolffkran is presenting a world’s first in wireless crane control: WOLFF Intuitive Control. This groundbreaking technology fundamentally redefines crane operation via remote control – introducing an intuitive control system that, for the first time, shifts the focus from crane movement to load movement. The result? Easier handling, fewer sources of error, and greater efficiency on the construction site.
Until now, crane operators using wireless control had to manually translate the desired overall movement of the load into individual commands for each crane axis. They had to control the trolley, jib, and hoisting operation separately. Additionally, they needed to mentally convert their own viewpoint into the crane’s coordinate system. For example, an operator standing at the front of the jib, facing the crane, who wanted to move the load to the left from their perspective, had to move the remote control to the right – an operation requiring significant experience and concentration.
Complex controls made easy
WOLFF Intuitive Control takes over this complex coordinate transformation automatically, allowing the operator to move the load directly in the desired direction. No more simultaneous coordination of slewing, trolley movement and hoisting. The mental effort of translating crane rotations into actual load movements is eliminated. Instead, WOLFF Intuitive Control uses a Cartesian movement system, enabling intuitive load control: Move the control element forward, and the load moves forward. The same applies to all other directions. This allows for much more precise and effortless fine positioning, even in poor visibility conditions.
Ergonomics meets efficiency
The new WOLFF Intuitive Control is operated via an ergonomic wireless remote control, which can be comfortably worn on the hip or back with a strap, providing maximum freedom of movement at the construction site. The WOLFF Cam display can be integrated into the control unit, ensuring the crane operator always has an optimal view of the load. Cabin-based crane operation remains unaffected – Intuitive Control is designed exclusively for wireless remote control.
A proprietary WOLFF system for maximum performance
WOLFF Intuitive Control is available as an option for new WOLFF cranes or as a retrofit for existing WOLFF cranes. It is also offered as an upgrade to the previous WOLFF HiSPS wireless control system.
To our knowledge, WOLFF Intuitive Control is currently the only truly innovative remote control system for tower cranes and has been registered for patent. Existing “intuitive” crane control solutions on the market fail to meet Wolffkran’s high precision standards for reliable and accurate crane control. Unstable measurement values and the resulting need for frequent recalibration highlight the limitations of existing solutions. That’s why Wolffkran has developed WOLFF Intuitive Control, a proprietary system specifically designed for tower cranes – combining maximum precision, stability and user-friendliness.
During last bauma, visitors had the opportunity to try out WOLFF Intuitive Control virtually: using VR glasses and two joysticks, they were able to control a WOLFF crane virtually from the ground.
