Six WOLFF luffing jib cranes are currently in use for the construction of the new minarets at the main entrances of the Grand Mosque in Mecca. All six minarets will be 120 meters high, with a pair flanking each of the three main gates: King Abdel Aziz Gate, El-Fath Gate and El-Umrah Gate. The construction of the minarets is part of the third expansion phase of the Grand Mosque.

Crane erection and operation in a highly frequented area
Highest Operational Safety 24/7
The location of the construction site is frequented by worshippers and pilgrims 24 hours a day and gets particularly busy during Hajj season, therefore requiring highest safety standards at all times. Meeting this challenge, all six cranes (4 x WOLFF 355 B, 2 x WOLFF 224 B) are inspected and serviced by WOLFFKRAN only a monthly basis to ensure safe operation and prevent operational downtime.
Just-in-time delivery
On top of the site being very busy, extremely confined space conditions called for a detailed logistical planning and just-in-time delivery of all components during the crane erections.
Expert engineering support
Tower heights between 116 and 126 meter required that the cranes had to be tied to the minarets. While the four WOLFF 355 B luffers are each tied three times, the two WOLFF 224 B luffers manage with only ties. To this end, WOLFFKRAN not only engineered and supplied the tie segments but also the wall brackets for the minarets.
